San Diego County Gun Owners PAC Call on Sheriff Gore to Issue CCW Permits to Those Seeking Them for Self Defense
After recent high-profile news events, San Diegans need to be vigilant and prepared. Instead of playing into the misguided gun control hype, law-abiding citizens who have gone through the required training and vetting process should be allowed the option to receive their concealed weapons permit. As fantastic as the good men and women in law enforcement are, we have seen time and again, law enforcement cannot be expected to be everywhere at once. Public safety is a community effort. The state has a provision to issue permits for the purpose of self-defense, but Sheriff Gore is standing in the way due to his personal bias against gun ownership. Sheriff Gore is choosing to take away the public’s right to protect themselves.
It is high time Sheriff Gore accept “self-defense” like state law allows, as a good cause reason to approve a carry permit. In all of the shootings we have seen, the only perpetrators stopped before more heinous acts could be committed against the innocent were the ones stopped by someone with a gun – not a gun free zone. Says Michael Schwartz, Executive Director of San Diego County Gun Owners PAC.
Sheriff Gore has the authorization to issue concealed carry permits under existing state law. His bias against a law abiding citizens ability to protect his or herself and the life of their family by using a firearm puts him at odds with most other California sheriffs and most other issuing policies across our country.
Michael Schwartz issued this challenge Mr. Gore, it is time to evolve on the issue of carry permits. Personal bias is no longer going to be tolerated as a valid reason to deny concealed carry permits to law abiding citizens who have been vetted by some of the strictest standards in the country. Are you, Mr. Gore, ready to hold yourself accountable for the potential loss of life that comes as a result? For the defense of all San Diego citizens, and in respect of their constitutional right to bear arms you must change your policy and issue permits to those seeking them for self-defense?
